Michael Sitrick, founder and chairman of Sitrick And Company, joined the business advisory board of Oxis Biotech, a subsidiary of Oxis International Inc. The appointment drew attention in communications industry circles given the contrast between Sitrick’s established corporate client base and the early-stage profile of the company.
At the time of the appointment, Oxis Biotech was a development-stage company trading on the penny-stock market with a modest market valuation and limited revenues. Companies at that stage typically carry higher financial risk, including the potential for share dilution tied to short-term debt.
According to the company, the advisory board was structured to transition into a formal board of directors in the event Oxis successfully listed on a major exchange such as the Nasdaq.
About Michael Sitrick and Sitrick And Company
Michael Sitrick is the founder and chairman of Sitrick And Company, one of the leading crisis and strategic communications firms in the United States. Founded in 1989, the firm built its reputation handling high-stakes corporate, legal, and reputation-sensitive matters. Over its history the firm has advised clients across pharmaceutical, financial, entertainment, and corporate sectors.
Sitrick’s background in adversarial media relations and corporate communications has made him one of the most recognized practitioners in the field — a profile that made his move onto an early-stage company’s advisory board a point of industry discussion.
In a statement at the time, Oxis Biotech chairman and CEO Anthony Cataldo described Sitrick as bringing experience in strategic communications, management, corporate governance, and value creation to the company’s advisory board.
