INTRODUCTION

British Columbia Safety Authority dba Technical Safety BC (“Technical Safety BC”) is an independent, self-funded organization that oversees the safe installation and operation of technical systems and equipment across the province. In addition to issuing permits, licences and certificates, we work with industry to reduce safety risks through assessment, education and outreach, enforcement, and research.

1.1 PURPOSE OF THIS REQUEST

Technical Safety BC is looking for a public relations and communications (PR) agency that acts as a

partner and an extension of our Technical Safety BC Marketing and Communications team, to help us deliver on our strategy of building confidence in a safety system that improves the wellbeing of British Columbians.

1.2 SCOPE

Technical Safety BC requires an agency partner who understands the intricacies of government and the two BC provincial government ministries we work with, the Building Standards Branch/Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, as well as any future ministries we may work with.

We will work together to:

▪ increase public, client, and partner awareness of Technical Safety BC activities and initiatives;

▪ protect and enhance Technical Safety BC’s image and reputation with the public, key partners, industry associations, and the provincial government; and

▪ maximize media opportunities in local and national media markets.

1.3 OBJECTIVES

The agency partner we are looking to work with has:

▪ A strong senior agency leadership team who has in-depth government experience and can provide strategic counsel and advice on emerging strategies, media relations strategies, and issues management.

▪ A local account team that are strong communicators, proactive, solutions focused, curious, detail oriented, and experienced in working with government organizations.

▪ Amazing project management skills and a love for work back schedules that contain realistic deliverables and deadlines. Change is a constant in our world, so the team must believe in open dialogue and partnering with us if there are schedules that need to be adjusted, or delays that need to be managed.

▪ Exceptional writers who deliver content that requires minimal rewrites.

▪ Availability to work collaboratively onsite/in-person when necessary.
