Bournemouth University Offers Short Media Courses

Education is an ongoing process and one that we need to actively pursue. While you can certainly learn from reading or watching informative videos, there are times when you really need to take a class at a top school in something to understand it better. These days, though, most business owners simply don’t have much time to do that. How are you going to go to class at the local uni if you are working 10 hour days and then heading home to the family?
This is the question that Bournemouth University has just answered with their Mix Tape program. They offer short online courses, for those who are in need of a little education but who don’t have time to go back to school full time or even part time. Rather than attend school, you take part in a two day retreat at the university and then work online for 7 weeks on the classwork.
Courses include topics like Leadership and Management, Branding and Brand Management, Advertising and Society, Media Strategy, Marketing the Media and a number of other courses, including several filmmaking ones. However, the business courses are ideal for those looking to boost their knowledge and improve their business. You might even consider enrolling an employee or two.
Advantages of the Bournemouth Mix Program
The Mix program that the Bournemouth University is offering is extremely well thought out. There are more than 30 short courses in total, on several different themes.
Each short course starts off with a two day retreat at the actual university, where you will learn plenty. Then you continue to learn online with a tutor for seven weeks, at which time you find out if you have passed the course. Five different courses are available at any given time, giving you a range to choose from.
Each course is worth 20 Masters level credits and you need 60 in order to gain your Post Graduate Certificate. Take another three courses on top of that and you get your post Graduate diploma, all without having to attend full time classes.
The courses are marked on 100% coursework, making it easier for graduated students to continue their education without cramming for tests.
Perhaps the biggest benefit of all, however, is the ability to mix and match your courses . . . there’s nothing saying you have to take only media classes, so if you’ve always been into animation, why not try a class on that, too? The sky’s the limit and you can choose whichever courses you’re interested in.
Application and Acceptance
While the university is offering these short courses to graduates who have at least 2 years of work experience, they are also willing to accept those who have not graduated from the uni . . . as long as you have at least 10 years of experience in the work force. It looks like they are a bit flexible on this, though, so if you’re interested, go ahead and apply to see if they will take you anyway.
