Edelman Australia Hires Ian Pope as Corporate Group Director

Ian Pope everything-prSYDNEY, November 20, 2013 – Edelman Australia today announced that Ian Pope has been hired as corporate group director, effective immediately. Pope is a senior communications professional with more than 14 years of experience in corporate and financial communications, media relations, reputation management and strategic counsel. In his new role, Pope is responsible for expanding and leading the firm’s corporate communication services across Australia, including the continued development of its financial communications, executive counsel and training capabilities.

During a career spanning the UK and Australia, Pope has developed a strong track record of managing strategic communications programs and providing executive counsel to a range of firms domestically and internationally. His primary sector experience covers private equity, property, investment banking, funds management, IT & Telco, retail banking and insurance.

His work has covered both the public sector, including the management of financial communication for a range of ASX-listed firms, and the non-listed sector, in particular the financial services arena. In recent years, Pope has been lead advisor on a range of M&A projects, corporate restructures and a number of insolvency and administration projects.

Prior to joining Edelman, Pope was a partner and director at MAGNUS Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, one of Australia’s leading boutique advisory firms. In this role, Pope was responsible for co-leading the company’s Sydney office and managing all corporate and financial services-related clients, including leading all crisis and issues situations. Before this, Pope was director and head of corporate,
financial services and crisis and issues management at H&K Strategies (formerly Hill & Knowlton) for four years.

Pope is a member of, and tutor for, the Australian Investor Relations Association (AIRA).
