New York County Says Public Relations Will Help More People Work

social services prThe Westchester, New York Department of Social Services on behalf of the Westchester Putnam Local Workforce Development Board (“WDB”) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Public Relations firm able to  “provide planning, research and implementation of media placements, coordination of public relations and web-based promotional activities” in connection with the County’s Ready-to-Work (“Jobs Waiting”) initiative.

“Jobs Waiting” is a new, regional training program led by Westchester County and the WDB.  Funded through a $9.8 million federal Ready to Work grant, the program provides specialized training and support in the healthcare industry for long-term unemployed individuals in the Hudson Valley, New York region.

The selected agency will be responsible for planning, researching, and implementing media placements, coordinating public relations and web-based promotional activities to promote the County’s Ready-to-Work (“Jobs Waiting”) initiative, including:

  • To develop an awareness campaign of the Ready to Work (Jobs Waiting) program to healthcare businesses and long term unemployed job seekers (Unemployed for over 27 weeks).
  • Evaluate the current marketing promotion material and determine that the effectiveness in reaching the target population. Recommend new a strategy which will include new marketing and promotion
  • Develop the marketing strategy and tactics/ methods. This could include, but not be limited to print and electronic media planning, development of hand out items. Writing and placing articles and informational items, assisting with website development, writing and placing radio spots, outreach to professionals and provider groups, civic organizations, planning event tie-ins,
  • Develop marketing strategy to describe the Ready to Work (Jobs Waiting) program services, and how to access those
