NSLC SEEKS CONSUMER MARKETING FIRM

This Request for Standing Offer (RSO) is an invitation by the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (the “NSLC”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Market Research and Customer Insight Services, as per the specifications. The term of this contract will be 2 years with the option to extend for a two-year period.

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) is one of Nova Scotia’s largest retailers. Since 1930, the NSLC has been managing the safe and responsible sale of beverage alcohol, returning 100% of its profits to government to fund key public services. The NSLC operates approximately 111 facilities consisting of a corporate head office, fulfillment warehouses and retail stores with a team of more than 1,400 employees. The NSLC is a dynamic company that is always striving to improve – our service, our stores, our selection and our business processes.  In 2018 the NSLC’s mandated responsibilities were expanded to include the safe and responsible retailing of recreational cannabis in Nova Scotia. This is a significant and exciting change in our history.

The NSLC also distributes beverage alcohol product to licensees, private wine stores and through Agency outlets. Agency stores are Corporation-regulated private sector operations which sell beverage alcohol products in addition to offering non-liquor goods and services to residents of smaller communities. A licensee is a business licensed by the Nova Scotia Alcohol & Gaming Division (AGD) for the sale of beverage alcohol by the glass to be consumed on the premises of the licensee. The AGD is also responsible for enforcing the Liquor Control Act and its associated regulations with respect to licensees. Additional information about the NSLC may be found at its corporate website, www.myNSLC.com.

Today, there are 106 corporate stores across the province, generating more than a half billion dollars annually. We have transformed from simply being a place to buy to a place to shop and we are now focused on evolving to offer a truly personalized customer experience.

The NSLC offers products that enhance our customers’ occasions to bring them enjoyment, while delivering our customers a personalized experience. We believe in creating vibrant, dynamic environments for our customer to shop and discover new products, whether it be in our bricks and mortar stores, online at myNSLC.com, our events or through our social media channels. From our knowledgeable staff, to our online and mobile channels, we are there to offer experiences tailored to match and exceed customer expectations. We are working to better understand our customers’ needs and to respond with products and programs that matter being an insights led organization. Social responsibility is at the heart of who we are and what we do. As a crown corporation, we are mandated by the Liquor Control Act to control the sale of beverage alcohol in Nova Scotia. Responsible retailing starts in-store with NSLC employees and our WE ID identification program. Externally, we promote responsible consumption and increase awareness around social issues like high-risk drinking, buying for minors and other potential harms that may occur with the misuse of our products.

We take pride in being a responsible corporate citizen and good neighbor in the communities we serve. As a good community partner, we support causes such as the United Way at a corporate level as well as supporting causes important to our employees such as the IWK and other local initiatives. Our team loves the communities where we live and work… and we love to give back. We also support our local wineries and craft breweries with a mandate to proudly promote and foster growth in these areas. Balancing social, environmental and business needs is essential to our long-term success. We believe that sustainability means conducting business with integrity, caring for the community, respecting the environment and ensuring that beverage alcohol is kept out of the wrong hands.
