Sinclair Broadcast Group Hires Former Yes Network Executive as New CMO

The Sinclair Broadcast Group has been moving forward with its latest new appointment following an expansion of the group’s executive team. The latest addition to the company is the veteran marketing executive, John Zeigler who brings more than two decades of experience to the company. The new executive at Sinclar was most recently a member of the executive team at the Yes Network where his innovative approach to broadcasting has changed the profile of the broadcaster.

Sinclair Broadcast Group is an Expanding Company

Sinclair Broadcast Group has been looking to expand its management team over the last few months since it began a major expansion of its network. The catalyst for the expansion of the Sinclair brand was the purchase of 21 regional sports networks from the Disney company that has been accompanied by the latest developments in the launch of the NEXTGEN TV technology. John Zeigler is an experienced executive who has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including 28 Emmy Awards and 31 Promax Marketing Awards. Sinclair Broadcast Group is moving forward with its rebranding and updates to the 21 regional sports networks that were purchased from Disney. The role Zeigler has been given, Chief Marketing Officer, has been created for him and will expand to create marketing and creative media projects for the entire Sinclair Broadcast Group network.

The Marketing and Creative Media Professional

The career of John Zeigler has been a storied one that has taken him to executive roles at a number of the highest-profile networks in the U.S. Among the roles undertaken by Zeigler was his recent role as Vice President at the Yes Network. Executives at Sinclair stated the reasons for the hiring of John Zeigler included his ability to innovate in the marketing sector. While working at the Yes Network, Zeigler decided to take full control of the marketing of the broadcaster by forming an in-house advertising and marketing agency, the Yes Creative Group. The idea behind the move to create the Yes Creative Group was based on the desire to control every aspect of the on-air branding and digital marketing of the Yes Network.

The Career of John Zeigler

Looking back at the career of John Zeigler shows a resume filled with executive positions at some of the best-known networks in the U.S. The executive roles enjoyed by John Zeigler include his time spent as Vice President at WGN America and a similar role at Turbo Dog. Among the businesses that have benefitted from the work of John Zeigler are the Tribune Creative Group and Z Living Network.

Despite the role of John Zeigler being focused on the 23 regional sports channels recently purchased by Sinclair, the role will develop over time to include all the regional stations of the brand. The Sinclair Broadcast Group represents channels in 88 regional markets and operates more than 190 channels along with 23 sports networks. Sinclair is hoping the success that has been enjoyed by John Zeigler over the course of his career will continue with the growing network of regional TV stations the brand operates. The expansion of Sinclair Broadcast Group into digital platforms over the course of 2020 has led to a new executive team being assembled that it is hoped will lead the brand to national success.
