A PR Lesson from Beyonce on #IWASHERE

We continue our celebrity PR lessons today with Beyoncé, who recently premiered “I Was Here” – a song to celebrate the World Humanitarian Day. You guessed, this PR lesson deals with values beyond tabloid headlines, scandals, fashion, and paparazzi. This time, PR is all about adding an influencial voice to a good cause, a cause that honors those who face danger and adversity to help others, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to help people around the world, regardless of who they are and where they are.

Beyoncé: the official face of WHD 2012

This is the official face of World Humanitarian Day 2012. Beyoncé sends out a powerful message, with more than a song.

For those who want to join Beyoncé, the star offers 10 tips to help others, and the belief that each day brings a new chance to help. It’s all about the little things we can all do to make a difference.

Beyoncé hoped to reach 1 billion people today, in what has already been described as the biggest social media message in history. She went way beyond that mark, so far that www.whd-iwashere.org, the official World Humanitarian Day site, crushed a few times during the day. With support from celebrities like Lady Gaga, Rhyanna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, Beyoncé sent her message of hope all over the world, to over 1 billion people and counting:

“World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care,” she said in a statement.

I Was Here counter.

I Was Here reached to over one billion people, and counting.
