Fairfax County Seeks Marketing Firm
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), located in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA, is seeking a Seoul-based marketing representative to promote Fairfax County as an investment location for Korean IT, telecommunication, biotechnology and other companies.
Background:
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority operates under the direction of a seven-member board (officially the Commission), which is comprised of business people appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This board ensures that the business community is well represented in the policymaking functions of the FCEDA. The board meets monthly, usually the second Monday of the month, at FCEDA headquarters in Tysons.
Scope of Work:
The selected candidate will contact key persons in Korean IT, telecommunication, biotechnology and other companies, including startup companies and venture capital firms, to discuss the advantages of locating their US operations in Fairfax County. The primary industries in Fairfax County include telecommunications, Internet, systems integration, aerospace, e-commerce, and bioinformatics. Companies that choose to locate their facilities in Fairfax County generally establish a headquarters facility, sales office, or other operations center. There is increasing emphasis on establishing government relations or procurement offices considering the close proximity of Fairfax County to the US Federal government and increasing infrastructure budgets. Only four percent of the companies in Fairfax County have manufacturing facilities here.
The selected candidate will also join or already be active in various Korean industry associations and/or venture capital groups to network with the membership and generate investment leads. When representatives from the FCEDA headquarters office visit Korea, the selected candidate will set meetings up with companies that are deemed to have an interest in Fairfax County, and will follow up with them after the meetings. The ideal candidate will also arrange interviews with the Korean media, speaking opportunities, and other public relations events to increase the awareness of Fairfax County in Korea. These activities require a candidate who is outgoing, a self-starter and fluent in English and Korean.
The FCEDA would like to learn more about your background and qualifications, and we have prepared the following preliminary questions:
1) Please provide an extended resume of yourself.
2) Please describe your company, and your business development and marketing experience.
