Edelman Names Russell Dubner U.S. President and CEO

Russell DubnerBig news from Edelman PR today, the firm has named Russell Dubner as President and CEO of Edelman U.S., to be effective July 1. According to the press from the firm Dubner will oversee the firm’s largest operation of 14 offices. Dubner succeeds Mark Hass, who is leaving the firm.

Matthew Harrington, global chief operating officer, to whom Dubner will ultimately report, offered this via the press release:

“Russell has had tremendous success in growing and diversifying the New York office and its client base. He’s the perfect fit to help lead the U.S. into its next chapter of success. I’d also like to thank Mark for his contributions in the U.S. and in APAC, where he served as president of Edelman China.”

As for experience, Dubner has already run the 800 person New York office since 2008. He  joined the firm in 1992 as an entry-level account executive, cut his teeth on managing accounts like Church & Dwight, Dannon and Energizer, and technology companies like Canon and AOL and fast-growth insurgent brands like Tough Mudder. Dubner currently serves as the client lead with professional services firms such as Boston Consulting Group and PwC. He’s also gained a vast experience working with international clients and governments. Dubner had this to say about the appointment:

“Over the next few years the rate of change in how people connect with brands will only accelerate and this is exactly the kind of dynamic where a boutique at scale with our adaptive nature and sense of mission thrives. With this new role, I have the opportunity to both strengthen our core capabilities and pioneer new ways to help clients, both corporate and consumer, successfully navigate this new era of a living brand. That’s exciting to me.”

Additionally, Dubner sits on the boards of the New York City think-tank Center for an Urban Future and the Coro NY Leadership Center. He’s a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s Gotham Chapter, GenNext Foundation and a founding member of PTTOW. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School’s Executive Program and is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College.
