Otto Adolf EichmannA new documentary entitled “The Trial of Adolf Eichman” is now available worldwide, after its USA Premier at the New York Jewish Film Festival. And as an interesting corollary news bit, a former SS officer stands trial this week for alleged WW II crimes.

The 1961 trial of Adolf Eichmann held in an Israeli courtroom and broadcast around the globe, was a benchmark event in the historiography of the Holocaust, especially in Israel where the trial proved a watershed experience for survivors and citizens of the new Jewish state. Employing new video and broadcast technologies, the trial was also a milestone in media and journalism coverage.

From the producers of Being Jewish in France this absorbing, comprehensive new documentary features detailed accounts of Eichmann’s capture, the drama in the courtroom and behind the scenes, and reactions to the trial from around the world.

Ironically, news of a former Nazi SS officer facing a murder trial over the death of a WW II Dutch Resistance fighter was release just today. in the death of a Dutch Resistance fighter nearly 70 years ago during World War II. BBC reported 92 year old Siert Bruins, a Dutch-born German, set for trial in Hagan, Germany for allegedly killing POW Aldert Klaas Dijkema in September 1944.

The trial, certain to be one of the last of its kind in Germany, could see the former SS officer living out his life in prison. Bruins claims he was there, but marching beside the prisoner when the 4 shots struck the victim in the back.
