Michael J. Berland Is the New CEO of Edelman Berland
Michael J. Berland was hired by Edelman to lead the company’s strategic research and analytic business, recently renamed Edelman Berland. Berland will report to Matthew J. Harrington, Edelman’s global chief operating officer.
Effective September 10, Berland becomes the chief executive officer of Edelman Berland, leading the company’s global approach to reputation, branding and communications research. He will also integrate StrategyOne, Edelman’s existing market research firm, with Edelman Berland.
“When it comes to fully integrating research with PR programs and partnering with both account teams and clients, he is simply the best,” said Richard Edelman, president and chief executive officer of Edelman. He added: “I have the same global aspiration for Edelman Berland that I had when we fully integrated our digital business into the geography businesses. We know the model works, and the fact that our digital business has grown to revenues in excess of $80 million globally as a result speaks for itself.”
Everything Edelman customers knew as operations under StrategyOne will fully integrate and become part of Edelman Berland. This means that over 65 offices around the world will partner with the new strategic research and analytic business. Edelman Berland will take over existing customer accounts (clients like PepsiCo, Shell and Mubadala) , but also will establish its own client relationships.
Michael J. Berland is an internationally recognized strategic advisor and communications consultant, also known for his book “What Makes You Tick? How Successful People Do It — And What You Can Learn from Them” (HarperCollins, May 2009), co-written with Doug Schoen.
