CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS ISSUES MARKETING RFP

The Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) for the City of Allen, Texas seek Creative Services to provide immediate marketing services for the following projects:

                • Social media guidelines, strategy and content

                • Marketing video project planning and coordination

                • Content development for summer and fall CVB newsletter

                • Influencer strategy and planning

Background:

Allen, Texas is located 25 miles North of Dallas, centrally located in Collin County on US 75 with the 121 corridor along its northern border making access to the DFW airport convenient for business and leisure travelers. In April 2015, the newest addition to Allen’s destination portfolio was announced – Watters Creek Convention Center with a 290 room 4 -star hotel and over 65,000 square feet of meeting space which is set to projected to open spring 2017. This will bring Allen’s hotel room accommodations to nine hotels with over 1,200 hotel rooms. Allen currently has two large hotels. The Courtyard by Marriott built by John Q Hammons has 228 guest rooms and 15,000 sq. feet of conference space. And, the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center has 150 guest rooms and 9,000 sq. feet of conference space.

The City of Allen has a history of honored nominations by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the 2009 Best Community Development Projects with the opening of MG Herring’s Development at The Village of Allen. Adjacent to The Village of Fairview, the development represents 400-acres and a combined total of more than 3,000,000 sq. feet of retail and restaurant space which includes Allen Event Center. Allen Event Center is a multi-purpose venue totaling 188,000 square feet with capacity for 8,000 seats (6,275 fixed), 26 suites and two ice rinks. The Center serves as home to concerts from Reba MacIntire to Lenny Kravitz, trade shows such as the Collin County Home & Garden Show, professional sporting events, festivals, community ceremonies and the Allen Americans Professional Hockey Team (ECHL) , Dallas Sidekicks indoor soccer league, and the Texas Revolution Indoor Football Team (IFL) .

Another shopping destination in Allen is Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a unique, resort-style mixed-use development. Watters Creek features include a large creek side village green, interactive pubic art, a variety of upscale specialty retail shops, and restaurants with al fresco dining and water views. Watters Creek has been honored by D Magazine as DFW’s best alfresco dining. Watters Creek, The Village at Allen and the established Allen Premium Outlets, with over 100 outlet stores, positions Allen, Texas, as a destination for regional travel.

As the destination marketing agent and resource for the City of Allen, the ACVB is responsible for reaching these key target audiences:

                • Meeting planning professionals – association, religious and corporate

                • Sports groups and tournament organizers – pro, semi-pro, amateur, collegiate, and youth; both spectator and participatory

                • Out-of-town visitors from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana

                • Conference trade show attendees

Scope of Work:

The general scope of services includes marketing materials to promote Allen, Texas, as a destination for meetings, sporting events, and general leisure visitors.

Stakeholders will include all individuals, companies and organizations that have an interest in the success of the ACVB and its sales and marketing efforts. This group would include but is not limited to, the following: area hotels/motels, restaurants, entertainment venues, art groups, historic groups, air and ground transportation companies, area attractions, retail, Allen Event Center, Allen Parks and Recreation Department, City government, surrounding cities, area tourism organizations, etc.

The ideal agency will possess the following capabilities:

                1) brand development and management experience,

                2) in-depth understanding of the meeting planning industry and leisure travel market, and

                3) a portfolio that demonstrates strong destination brand positioning in local, regional, national and international markets.
