The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation invites tenders from interested firms to bid for the procurement of a communications and public relations agency for REREC projects for two years. Following the enactment of the Energy Act 2019, Rural Electrification Authority (REA) has now changed to Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). REREC has an expanded mandate of spearheading Kenya’s green energy drive, in addition to implementing rural electrification projects

Scope of Work:

Creative concept development, art direction, copywriting and scripting for different communication products

Covering corporate, public awareness and communication campaigns

Production of creative concepts 

Production of the creative advertising concepts for application in diverse platforms as per 
REREC brief 

Review of REREC brand manual 

Periodic review of the brand standards manual for the corporate brand to guide the use and application of the brand (including brand colors, application at different settings, tones, typographical elements and reproduction guidelines for printers) 

Media strategy including media planning and buying 

Developing a media engagement strategy for various issues Coordinate media relations, buying and placement in electronic, print and online platforms as per REREC requirements Media Monitoring

Monitoring placement of REREC relevant energy sector content in the print, television, radio and online media Outdoor Design and placement of outdoor communication

Account management

Continuous interaction with REREC Communication Department and facilitation of work from REREC brief to, implementation, including billing

Corporate Publications 

Concept development, design and production of various corporate publications on paper and electronic format. These may include: newsletters/annual reports/calendars/e-shots/ brochures, corporate stationery and other publications; Surveys

Conduct research on customer satisfaction

Communication strategy and plan 

Develop communication strategy for corporate and specific projects and PR/Communications strategies including individual initiatives such as public awareness campaigns. Monitor the effectiveness of the strategy and provide necessary advice

Digital media strategy and plan 

Develop a digital media strategy for corporate initiatives as well as public awareness. Monitor the effectiveness of the digital media strategy and provide necessary advice

Stakeholder Engagement strategy and plan 

Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to improve understanding between REREC and its stakeholders. Monitor the effectiveness of the stakeholder engagement strategy and provide necessary advice

Media relations 

Develop and maintain effective working relations with the local and international media Generate periodic and special press releases/statements for dissemination through relevant media Maintain and update media contacts Coordinate media invitations to press conferences or field visits 

Photography and videography 

Undertake professional photography and videography of various aspects including internal events, corporate public awareness and outreach events.

Event Management Organising REREC events such as: 

a) Local road shows and ground activations 

b) Launches, project commissioning, Sponsorships etc. 

c) Local Exhibitions, Conferences, Activations, etc. 

Reputation risk, crisis management and brand management 

Environmental scanning to identify potential reputation risks and providing advice to REREC on appropriate mitigating strategies to enhance the Authority’s brand/reputation
