Chelsea Football Club is Seeking a PR Agency

Chelsea Football PR

We learned from PR Week UK that Chelsea Football Club is on the hunt for a PR consultancy to promote event, health club and match-day hospitality offerings.

Chelsea Football Club are a Premier League team, and have spent most of their history in the top tier of English football. Chelsea have been English champions four times, FA Cup winners six times and League Cup winners four times. They have also won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup twice.

The club is parting from Pitch PR, its former agency of record, and is now seeking a replacement. The reasons of the breakup have not been revealed, but Pitch has recently announced that it will be involved with the England 2018 World Cup Bid to support its ongoing public engagement programme.

Pitch was previously engaged to provide PR support to the England 2018 Bid launch at Wembley. A continuation of their support for the England 2018 World Cup Bid was expected.

It will be interesting to see who will follow in Pitch’s footsteps with Chelsea. The club announced that it will appoint a PR agency before the Premier League season begins on 14 August. The selected agency will take over Pitch’s responsibilities in promoting Chelsea’s hospitality portfolio that includes hotels, restaurants, a health club, a retail outlet, and conferencing facilities.

The company will have to continue branding and marketing these facilities to new consumers, through new marketing programmes, publicity campaigns, promotions and other creative support.
