Superstar Leslee Dart & Donald Trump As A Fake Publicist

It can be assumed that most PR people and publicists have only a limited amount of influence over what is said in the press about their clients. But when you start looking at those representing a long list of superstar clients as does Leslee Dart of 42 West (previously known as the Dart Group) founded in 2004 when she left PMK– it can be a different story entirely.

At the time she left, she was one of the three top people at PMK, long considered one of the top talent and entertainment PR and publicist talent companies. When she left there, many of their clients followed her right out the door and signed to her new agency.

Woody Allen, has been represented by her for decades. But he’s not the only one who has at times sparked some rumors and information very unflattering to that particular client. She’s not been above occasionally banning publications or journalists from one or more of the next big releases and gatherings either.

Most recently, the Hollywood Reporter published a piece calling into question the integrity of journalists covering the release of Woody Allen’s new film – since they aren’t asking any tough questions about Allen’s controversial life choices.

The piece was written by Allen’s son, Ronan Farrow, who opened up issues of child molestation of one of Farrow’s sisters, Dylan – at age seven – according to her allegations, and another sister, now married to Allen, Soon-Yi Previn.

The big party at Cannes celebrating the new movie made a point of excluding the Hollywood Reporter from attendance because of them running that story.

Dart’s list of clients includes some pretty impressive names, so it would be easy to see why journalists and the publications they represent don’t want to get on her bad side. Some of those clients are Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Harvey Weinstein, Ron Howard, Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack, Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant, Jessica Lange, Keanu Reeves, Calvin Klein, and Mike Nichols.

1991 Interview transcript with Trump PR person shared

Last week, the Washington Post published the transcript of an interview from 1991 with “John Miller” a supposed spokesman for Donald Trump. You can also listen to the tape of it. John Miller sounds hauntingly like Donald Trump as he talks, not just in tone, but his speech patterns as well. If it is Donald actually speaking, he’s remarkably good at keeping things straight in his presentation without using any language in the first person.

The tape deals with the time shortly after his divorce from Ivana and his unwillingness to commit to Marla Maples, even though he had recently given her a beautiful ring from Tiffany’s.

There’s lots of bragging about the women who want to spend time with him, actresses such as Madonna, and models. There’s also talk about his divorce, Ivana’s interview with Barbara Walters and ultimately claims that Ivana really would like to get back together with him.

Donald is giving the interview and not fessing up to it being him. His very positive spin on Mr. Trump’s actions and choices is not surprising as any PR pro would – although the general boasting nature of the interview though seems a bit out of place from a third party. It would be nice if the writer had actually checked with Leslee Dart’s office to confirm that, despite their deaths, Mike Nichols and Sydney Pollack still require Leslee’s help. Maybe heaven isn’t as peaceful as people think it is.
