The National Marrow Donor Program has picked Weber Shandwick to run their “Be The Match(SM) Marrowthon” campaign, which will be starting on June 8th and running to the 22nd. The program aims to encourage people to become a part of the national bone marrow registry and is the organization`s largest awareness event of the year.
This will be the third consecutive year of running the “Be The Match(SM) Marrowthon” campaign for Weber Shandwick. In previous years, the campaign was referred to as “Thanks, Mom.” The PR company will be handling all areas related to media, including media interactions, social media strategies and event support, among others. They are looking to reach more people in 2009 than in previous years, raising more awareness of bone cancer and the role bone marrow donors play in saving lives.
The National Marrow Donor Program works to educate and support patients and medical personnel, aids in marrow transplants around the world, and is also actively involved in research to help improve life for bone cancer patients awaiting transplants.
“It is an incredible privilege for Weber Shandwick to support Be The Match in its essential work in saving and improving lives,” said Sara Gavin, who is president of Weber Shandwick’s Minneapolis office, the office chosen for the position.
